Letter to the Editor:
It is unfair to criticize the institute especially the infrastructure. IIT education is wholly subsidized and only for the benefit of the unfortunate ones who cant afford such an education and for whom such facilities are a luxury. If one is to expect world-class infrastructure then one ought to be ready to pay for it. A student in MIT has to pay $50,000 per annum and then he gets the facilities. Here we fight to pay even Rs 50,000 and demand world class facilities. Furthermore, the facilities provided are wholly misused. The one of the core reasons that our LAN fails is because some of our dear batches use proxies which eat up our speeds for the most outrageous of downloads ( movies, music etc) for all the students benefits. Furthermore, LAN gaming is its most popular use and the time wasted on these things are unparallel. Most people are addicted to games (Counter Strike , AOE etc).Library wifi is extremely fast and can be used by all for study purposes , no misuse. The laptops are used for watching movies etc , gaming mostly , not for studies. Assignments are copied. No one wants to put in the hardwork but just pass the blame to others. Atleast make the right and best use of what you have.
An institute’s image is defined by the students , the way they work , the way you guys work in the companies. You do well n you enhance ur institute’s reputation. It is the students that maintain the brand name that IIT has ‘ the core reason why you guys took JEE’.
I am sure if one puts in the time and effort for the right goals , we can achieve what we aspire to achieve. The onus is on us to improve the institute , not the professors or its heads. We have to bring change .
A point of a bit of off the topic , the system is corrupt . So why do the students let the system make them corrupt and not vice-versa. Look at oneself before judging others. We students should work towards removing corrupt , both in the institute and the country and i think if we are the best brains that this country has to offer, we are the best hope :P

I completely identify with and support your thoughts. We never try to analyze every aspect of a situation. We have a habit of nagging which shows how pessimistic we are. We never try to introspect and find our own fauls. Egotism and arrogance refrains us from doing so.
Most of the IIT students will get psyched and/or give silly excuses on reading this letter.

Luk...im here in France rght now...I wud say...more than a month here makes me realise...watever be our attitudes...watever be our inherent pessimism...nethng...me dont cares...we are...nd will remain the fuckin best :) ... baki if ur dat gud...then thoda sa compensation mein aisa attitude "chalta hai" :P

does the writer say that library wifi is not "misused" in the sense that it is used on for studies??!!!
maybe, dear sidak needs to reflect on that line... the library is the only place in IIT where the net speed is good enough to enable a video chat!! [:P]
